Jessica Phillips-Rife is excited to join the music ministry at Progress Church of God! She has been music director, choir director, pianist, accompanist, vocal soloist, and guest musician at various local churches. She is also a composer, songwriter, and arranger of sacred and worship music. With decades of music experience and a solid education, Jessica will continue sharing her talents for the Lord in worship at Progress.
Jessica studied voice privately for over two decades with a complete focus on opera, studied piano privately for about ten years, and studied music theory at Harrisburg Area Community College. As a lyric soprano, she performs lead roles and serves as soloist locally with Harrisburg Opera, Capitol Opera Harrisburg, and Sylvan Chorale.
Also an accomplished pianist, Jessica travels the Central Pennsylvania area, accompanying herself on piano and performing programs of music at area retirement communities. She also has experience teaching voice and piano privately. In 2019, Jessica fulfilled a lifelong dream of recording an album. All the songs were her own; to which she wrote, sang, and played. Looking ahead, she plans to publish some of her songs to share for worship!
She currently resides in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with her husband, Rusty and their rescue cat, Oliver. In 2022, Jessica and Rusty celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary. “I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” (Psalm 104:33) With God, all things are possible.
